Regional Committee vows to ensure security for foreigners in Muzaffarabad

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a recent development, the Regional/Divisional Coordination Committee under the chairmanship of Missionary Muzaffarabad Division Chaudhry Guftar Hussain held a key meeting in Muzaffarabad.

The meeting was attended by Commander 1 AK Brigade, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Region) Muzaffarabad Yasin Qureshi, Superintending Engineer Highway Syed Kashif Ali Gazdezi, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Mudassar Farooq, Deputy Commissioner Neelam Nadeem Ahmed Janjua, Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Valley Syed Ashfaq Gilani, and others.

While reviewing the overall law and order situation in the meeting, it was decided that the implementation of the National Action Plan will be ensured in its true spirit.

The meeting reiterated its commitment to ensuring law and order situation, eliminating crime, and providing facilities to the citizens, including traffic problems.

On this occasion, it was also decided to ensure foolproof security for foreign citizens working on various projects in Azad Kashmir.

Apart from removing security flaws in the Patrend Power Project and, Neelum Jhelum Power Project, it was also decided to conduct 6 joint security audits of Rada Jail.

It was decided in the meeting that all departments will work in coordination for the timely completion of development projects.

In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of the three districts gave a detailed briefing regarding the implementation of the National Action Plan in their respective districts.

Tourists should be issued tags at entry points, Commissioner Muzaffarabad

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division said that to ensure the implementation of the National Action Plan, all departments should fulfill their respective responsibilities, and coordination with each other should be further improved.

He said that the checking system at entry points should be organized in such a way that after checking the tourists, their data should be compiled and tags should be issued so that they do not have to go through the process of repeated checking.

Work should be started for the renovation of Quaid-e-Azam Lodges Barsala. In addition, tour operators should be registered, and a plan should be drawn up to solve problems related to electricity supply and power generation.

He said that on the one hand, due to the fire being set in the forests, our precious forests are being lost, while on the other hand, it is also badly affecting our air quality. We all have to pay serious attention to this important issue and fulfill our respective responsibilities.

He said that the elimination of crime, security of foreign citizens, registration of madrassas, implementation of the Sound System Act, compilation of complete data of Afghan citizens, improvement of roads, implementation of road safety and traffic laws should be ensured.

Rescue operations should be accelerated to recover the dead bodies of those who were hit by an avalanche in Neelum in the past.

Speaking on the occasion, Commander 1 AK Brigade said that the purpose of this forum is to review each other’s work and increase coordination so that better results can be achieved.

He said that registration of madrasas and security of foreigners should be ensured. Early installation of the approved heavy transformer for Jhelum Valley District is being ensured.

He said that we all have to work for the development and prosperity of this country. The Pakistan Army actively participates in the welfare of the people and relief and rescue operations.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Inspector General of Police Yasin Qureshi said that maintaining the internal security and law and order of the country is the responsibility of the police, while external security is the responsibility of the Pakistani forces.
