MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Former AJK Legislative Assembly candidate Muhammad Fayyaz Sulehria has expressed concern over the political situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, stating that timely elections are essential to maintain democratic continuity in the state.
In a recent statement, he said that delaying tactics in general elections are an insult to the public mandate, adding the demand by the Awami Action Committee to abolish the 12 migrant seats is completely unconstitutional and immoral.
He stated that the leaders of the Awami Action Committee should expose the corruption of migrant representatives, and if anything wrong has been done, they should highlight it.
“They should support honest and sincere people in the elections for migrant seats.”
Sacrifices of Jammu and Kashmir migrants
According to him, these seats are a recognition of the sacrifices of the Kashmir freedom movement and the migrating families, which will not be allowed to be abolished under any circumstances.
He stated that any compromise on the foundation of the Kashmir freedom movement is unacceptable under any circumstances.
“The protection of the state’s integrity and the rights of migrants is our top priority, and no kind of politics can be allowed on this.”
He further stated that if such a decision is made, they will be forced to close Barar Kot and Kohala, and the entire responsibility for this will lie with the government and the Awami Action Committee.
