ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has introduced new posting limits for its non-verified users, restricting them to post only 50 posts per day on their account.

In addition, users will be able to reply to 200 times, send 500 direct messages, and follow 400 accounts per day, while changing their email address only four times an hour.

According to the X, these limits are intended to reduce pressure on backend systems, lower downtime, and minimise error pages during periods of high activity.

The social media company stated that restricting how frequently some actions can be performed helps maintain platform reliability and prevents system overload.

These restrictions are implemented against spammers and unnecessary content on the platform, X said. The company believes that doing so will help control networks of automated bots.

According to statistics, about 80 percent of users only view content on the platform and do not post much themselves, so the impact of these restrictions on ordinary users is likely to be limited.

However, this change could be significant for journalists, influencers, brand managers, and other ‘power users’, as they post and reply to a large number of posts throughout the day.

For such users, it will now be necessary to take a premium subscription.

If an unverified user tries to post or reply to more than the set limit, the system will issue an alert, informing them that the daily limit has been reached, the X said.

After that, the user will have to wait for reactivity or obtain a premium membership, it added.
