MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Preparations for the 2026 general elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have entered the final phase, with election authorities completing key arrangements ahead of the electoral process.
According to reports, preparation of voter lists has been completed, and the lists are currently undergoing printing and publication. The updated voter rolls are expected to be released in the coming days.
Election officials said more than 3.4 million voters are expected to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming AJK Elections 2026, while over 500,000 new voters have been added to the electoral lists.
Reports further stated that minor errors identified in the voter records have been corrected, and the finalisation process is now nearing completion.
Officials indicated that the AJK Elections 2026 schedule may be announced soon, after which the process of appointing Returning Officers (ROs) will begin.
Authorities said arrangements have been made to ensure transparent and orderly elections under judicial supervision, while additional deployment of the army, Rangers, and law enforcement personnel is also under consideration to maintain law and order.
The Election Commission has also strengthened coordination at the district and administrative levels to ensure the timely and transparent conduct of the election process.
