ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain, hail, and dust storms in several areas of the country including Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light, moderate, and in some places, torrential to heavy rain in various areas including Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli, Poonch, Kotli, Mirpur, Bhimber, Hattian Bala, Leepa, Jhelum Valley, Sudhanoti, Palandri, and Samahni.
On the other hand, from afternoon to evening and night today, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in various areas including Gilgit, Skardu, Diamer, Astore, Hunza, Nagar, Ghizer, Ghanche, Shigar, and Khaplu.
Rain and dust storms likely to affect public life
There is possibility of heavy rain and dust storms, while snowfall may also be observed in high mountainous areas.
The Meteorological Department and NDMA have issued an alert, advising the public to avoid unnecessary travel and stay informed about the weather at all times.
Citizens should be cautious when traveling by motorcycle during strong winds. Farmers should ensure the safety of their crops and livestock as hail may damage wheat, mango, and vegetable crops in some areas.
The instructions further state that people living near streams should be careful. “Prevent children from playing outside in bad weather. Stay away from electric poles and wires. There will be a risk of landslides in mountainous areas. Low-lying areas may be submerged during heavy rain.”
