WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): US President Donald Trump has praised Pakistan’s leadership while issuing fresh warnings to Iran amid rising tensions in the region and ongoing negotiations over a possible agreement.
Speaking to the media, Trump said the Pakistani leadership had done an “excellent job” during recent diplomatic engagements. He stated that Pakistan had requested the United States to halt “Project Freedom,” and Washington complied with the request.
“The Prime Minister and Field Marshal of Pakistan are excellent personalities,” Trump remarked.
The US president warned that if Iran does not sign an agreement soon, the United States would respond with greater force. He reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
Trump claimed that negotiations with Iran are continuing and expressed confidence that Tehran would eventually sign a deal. He also alleged that Iranian forces targeted American naval vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, but said US ships crossed safely without sustaining damage.
According to Trump, missiles and drones launched toward American destroyers were intercepted and destroyed. He further claimed that small Iranian attack boats involved in the confrontation were sunk.
Earlier, in a statement shared on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump announced that three American destroyers had successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz despite what he described as attacks by Iranian forces.
The US president also made controversial remarks regarding Iran’s political situation, claiming that “regime change has taken place” and accusing Iranian authorities of killing peaceful protesters in previous years.
Trump maintained that Iran should not have targeted American vessels and warned that Washington could intensify military action if negotiations fail.
“We knocked out Iran today; if they do not sign the deal, we will knock them out even harder,” he said.
