MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has dismissed Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed from the cabinet, PM’s spokesperson Azadar Hussain said on Thursday.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP ) leader Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed held the ministries of Power Development Organization (PDO) and Planning and Development.
The decision to dismiss was implemented immediately on the instructions of the Prime Minister, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore.
Sources said that deviation from party policy is being cited as the main reason for his dismissal from the cabinet.
According to sources, the development came after Chaudhry Rasheed’s possible joining of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ahead of the general election 2026.
As per reports, state minister Rasheed reached Lahore to meet the PML-N leadership for a ticket. He met PM Shehabz’s special aide on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, where Raja Farooq Haider was also present.
Chaudhry Rasheed may get the PML-N ticket for Constituency 7 in the upcoming elections, sources said.
Following the dismissal, consultations are underway on the new portfolios of departments.
