MIRPUR (Kashmir English): In a landmark achievement, AJK High Court Circuit Mirpur Judge Justice Sardar Muhammad Ijaz Khan delivered verdicts in about 600 cases today after three weeks of continuous hearings.
Similarly, the High Court of AJK, in one of its decisions, canceled 400 conciliation and settlement decrees issued by the Civil Courts of Mirpur District and Bhimber District.
These settlement decrees were regarding the land of Shamlat Deh.
The AJK High Court Circuit Mirpur has directed the Senior Member Board of Revenue to settle the matter in accordance with the rules of the Revenue Department.
This ruling follows an earlier Supreme Court decision and builds on previous cancellations of 52 settlement decrees in the Bhimber district.
Justice Sardar Muhammad Ijaz Khan issued the decision after the hearing of various review petitions filed in the High Court Mirpur Circuit today.
The court has clarified in its detailed 54-page decision that the Civil Court does not have the authority to issue settlement decrees regarding Shamilat Deh.
All such decrees that have been issued are canceled, the court ruled.
The Senior Member Board of Revenue of AJK and other relevant authorities have been ordered to deal with all cases in accordance with departmental rules.
Even before this, 52 settlement decrees of the Bhimber district have been cancelled in relation to the Shamlat Deh.
