DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Kashmir English): At least five people were killed while 10 others were injured in a suicide blast at a wedding ceremony near Qureshi Mor in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday night.
As per rescue officials, five bodies and 10 injured had been taken to DHQ Hospital DI Khan, while a rescue operation was still underway.
Security agencies cordoned off the area and started a search operation. Investigation underway to determine the nature of the blast and those responsible.
Police said that peace committee leader Noor Alam Mehsud was also present at the wedding ceremony.
According to reports, the explosion was carried out due to personal enmity linked to extortion. The Fitna al-Kharij have now descended to such an extent that they have started targeting wedding ceremonies.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi sought a report into the incident, according to a statement from his office.
“All possible medical assistance should be provided to the injured in the Dera blast,” he was quoted as saying, expressing grief over the incident.
