BAGH (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference  (APHC) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) chapter will hold a rally in Bagh on January 5 to mark Right to Self-Determination Day, along with a special meeting with refugees from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

A committee has been formed to organize the rally. The committee comprises APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmad Shah, Zahid Safi, Khadim Hussain, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Zahid Ashraf, Abdul Majeed Mir, and Sheikh Abdul Majid.

In a statement, the committee said that the United Nations, through its resolutions, has acknowledged the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, but India’s intransigence and unrealistic policies remain the sole impediment to their implementation.

Rally with a purpose!

The statement said that the rally aims to remind peace- and justice-loving countries around the world that despite the passage of more than seven decades, the people of Kashmir continue to be denied their internationally recognized right to self-determination.

The committee reiterated that the Kashmiri people want freedom from Indian occupation and are rendering unprecedented sacrifices for this just cause.

It urged the international community to take serious notice of the ongoing Indian brutalities against unarmed Kashmiris in IIOJK and to play an effective role in ensuring them their inalienable right to self-determination.
