Stage set for by-elections as polling begins tomorrow

LAHORE (Kashmir English):  The by-election field is set and polling will be held tomorrow in six National Assembly constituencies, including five in Punjab and one in Haripur.

PML-N ticket holders will face independent candidates, while in DG Khan, only allied parties will face each other, and PML-N’s Qadir Khosa and PPP’s Dost Muhammad Khosa will face each other.

The biggest battle will be in NA-18 Haripur, where PTI-backed Shahrnaz will face off against PML-N’s Babar Nawaz Khan.

The seat fell vacant due to the disqualification of Omar Ayub, for which he fielded his wife.

In NA-129, Lahore, PML-N’s Hafiz Noman and independent candidate Arsalan Ahmed are also competing.

In NA-185 DG Khan, allied parties will face each other, and PML-N’s Sardar Qadir and PPP’s Dost Muhammad Khosa will face each other.

In Faisalabad constituency 96, PML-N candidate Bilal Badar will face his own party’s former candidate Nawab Sher Wasir.

In NA-104, PML-N candidate Raja Daniyal and independent candidate Rana Adnan will contest. In NA-143, PML-N’s Tufail Jatt will face independent candidate Zarar Akbar Chaudhry.

ECP has completed all preparations for polling. Ballot papers and other election material will be transferred from returning officers to polling stations today under strict security arrangements.

Strict security has been put in place, with the army, Rangers, and Frontier Corps deployed on election duty.

Security personnel will be stationed outside polling stations, with special teams inside polling stations to ensure the integrity of the process.
