MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The peaceful protest led by the students of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir took a deadly turn after some individuals opened direct fire, injuring one student.

According to sources, the Sadar police station is located just a few yards from the Muzaffarabad University campus, also kept their distance from the incident, and no one came to help or to stop the firing
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, in which scenes of firing and chaos can be clearly seen.
The students of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir staged a peaceful protest at Chella Chowk, blocking traffic to voice their demands for a reduction in fees and improved facilities in the university.
Citizens and student organizations have reacted strongly to the incident and questioned the performance of the IG Azad Kashmir and SSP Muzaffarabad. Protesters say that the open use of weapons in the city and the helplessness of the police show the failure of the administration.
Citizens say that Muzaffarabad has now become an example of unrest and lawlessness, where open firing and the inaction of law enforcement agencies have become a cause of concern for the public.
