JHELUM VALLEY (Kashmir Digital): The protest of the Health Employees Federation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has intensified, with an announcement to continue the protest even on Eid-ul-Adha.
Protests staged by the Health Employees Federation are continuously ongoing in government hospitals and health centres across Azad Kashmir, including Jhelum Valley.
Employees took out a protest rally in the green area of District Headquarters Hospital Jhelum Valley, in which hundreds of employees participated and chanted strong slogans against the government.
Raja Sajid Azeem, Syed Zulfiqar Kazmi, Faisal Chaudhry, Raja Sadaqat, Syed Ijaz Kazmi, Azmat Bibi, Shahida Afsar led the rally from the District Headquarters Hospital and which culminated at the District Complex.
Addressing the protest demonstration, other speakers said that health employees have been protesting for their demands for more than four months, but no serious progress has been made by the government so far.
Speakers said that a charter of demands has been presented to the government and employees are holding peaceful symbolic protests, however, attempts are being made by the health department and hospital administration to pressure and harass employees, which, they said, is unacceptable.
Demand made to PM AJK
They demanded the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, the Health Minister, the Health Secretary, the Finance Secretary, and the Director General of Public Health to immediately issue a notification and accept the legitimate demands of the employees.
Leaders of the Health Employees Federation warned that if the government does not approve the demands before Eid-ul-Adha, employees will be forced to take to the streets with their children and continue the protest even during Eid days, for which the entire responsibility will rest with the government.
