LAHORE (Kashmir English): Floodwater from the Ravi River on Wednesday night entered Lahore’s Park View City, prompting authorities to issue urgent evacuation calls.
The temporary protective layer of the society has been breached, allowing water from the Ravi River to enter the crystal block of the Park View Society.
Resident have been advised to vacate their homes as the water level continues to rise, posing serious threats to safety and property.
Moreover, the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) of the Met Office reported the “exceptionally high floods” in the Ravi River at Shahdara and the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala, while Chiniot is on high alert due to rising water in the Chenab River.
According to the latest data, as of 11 pm, the water flow of 219,770 cusecs is passing through Shahdara, while a high flood was recorded at Balloki Headworks with an outflow of 112,955 cusecs. A medium flood persisted in Ravi at Jassar with an outflow of 97,500 cusecs.
Additionally, the Flood Forecasting Division reported a surge in water flow in the Chenab River at Chiniot Bridge to 674,000 cusecs, resulting in an exceptionally high flood.
In the Chenab River, a high-level flood was reported at Head Marala and Khanki, the division added.
