KOTLI/SUDHNOTI (Kashmir English): Students in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have demanded exam schedule revision set by the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK), administered by ADC, Allama Iqbal Open University, and intermediate boards.
According to details, students in Azaad Kashmir affected by intense shelling from India along the Line of Control (LoC) are under severe mental stress, causing them to forget their prepared lessons.
Amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India at the LoC, some students were forced to relocate to other cities due to cross-border firing and shelling.
Several students have been so deeply affected by the bombardment that they claim to have forgotten everything they studied. The students have urged authorities to take notice and revise the exam schedule to allow them more time for preparation.
It should be noted that some exams were postponed during the peak of tensions, but no announcement has been made yet regarding whether the remaining papers will proceed as scheduled or be rescheduled.
Recently, The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has announced an indefinite extension of school holidays and all educational institutions across the region due to escalating security concerns along the Line of Control (LoC), officials confirmed on Sunday.
The decision comes in response to persistent ceasefire violations by Indian forces, usually during the nighttime, which have resulted in civilian casualties and posed significant risks to student safety. Heavy shelling in border districts over the past week has forced authorities to prioritise precautionary measures.
The students of Azad Kashmir are urging educational authorities to reconsider the examination schedule, citing severe psychological distress caused by cross-border shelling.
They argue that the ongoing tensions along the LoC have not only disrupted their studies but also left them mentally unprepared for exams. According to them, a revised timetable would provide them with the necessary time to recover and perform to the best of their abilities.
