4.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Swat and adjoining areas

SWAT (Kashmir English): A moderate magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook Swat and the surrounding regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 50 kilometers, with its epicenter in the Hindu Kush area of Afghanistan, the National Seismic Monitoring Center said.

Panic gripped residents as buildings shook, leading people to move out onto the streets.

As of now, no reports of immediate casualties or damage were received.

Emergency responders and local authorities are trying to assess the situation and collect details from affected regions.

Earlier, A strong 5.6 magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, on Friday afternoon.

The National Seismic Monitoring Center of the Meteorological Department stated that the earthquake originated at 05:15 PM, with an epicenter in the Hindukush Region in Afghanistan.

The depth of the 5.6 mag quake was measured at 120 Km.

The jolts were also felt in Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Batagram, Abbottabad, Balakot, Buner, Kohistan, and the cities of Gilgit Baltistan, including Ghizer, Jaglot, and Gilgit.
