KOHAT (Kashmir English): In a tragic incident, eleven people were killed and three others injured when the roof of a house collapsed during torrential rains in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to rescue officials, the tragic incident took place in the Magin area of ​​Tehsil Lachi, resulting in the deaths of eleven members of the same family, including six women and three children. The injured have been shifted to different hospitals.

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in various parts of the country, including Lahore and Islamabad today, but the weather will remain hot and humid in most areas.

On the other hand, in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer district, flash floods and landslides caused destruction in various areas, while heavy rains in Thor caused flooding in more than six places.

The Meteorological Department has said that light to heavy rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely to occur in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Chitral, Swat, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad, Zhob, Kalat, Sherani, Kohlu, Khuzdar, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, Sukkur and Jacobabad and other parts of the country today.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to remain hot and humid in the federal capital Islamabad and most other areas. Light rain and drizzle are likely on the coastal belt of Sindh, including Karachi, during the next 3 days.

Meanwhile, several houses, agricultural lands, crops and trees were washed away due to flash floods in Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Thorki connection road was closed at several places. 13 dumpers, an excavator, a crash plant and 2 water tankers of a private company were swept away in the flood.

According to the report, agricultural lands, crops, trees and the communication road in Khanbari were severely damaged, passengers, freight vehicles and tourists were stranded, the power system in the affected areas was disrupted, and power was suspended since late last night.

The communication road in Niyat is closed at several places due to severe flooding; the victims have demanded immediate assistance from the government, restoration of power, and repair of roads.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Climate Change Mosaddiq Malik chaired a meeting and directed all relevant institutions to remain alert and make communication at the district and union council levels more effective.
