CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): YouTube, the largest video-sharing platform, is testing the return of its in-app messaging feature six years after retiring it.

It started rolling out this new tool to users in Ireland and Poland who are over 18 years old, thus enabling them to share videos and be able to have real-time chats directly within the YouTube mobile application.

This update eliminates the need for users to switch to third-party apps like WhatsApp or Instagram for sharing content.

This feature will allow users to send long videos, Shorts, and livestreams, and initiate one-on-one or group conversations. It will also allow replies through text, emojis, or additional videos.

According to YouTube, the feature is being tested in response to a great demand from the users themselves.

Users can tap the Share button to pull up a chat window in which they can share content and converse with others using the new messaging tool.

Still in its infancy, the feature includes safety measures such as strict adherence to the community guidelines of the platform.

The company also reserves the right to review those messages, which may violate these guidelines or pose some other potential harm.
