SHARJAH (Kashmir English): Pakistan Champions have been ruled out of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2026 after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refused to issue No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to its players.
In a statement on social media, the WCL confirmed that Pakistan Champions will not be participating in season 3 of the tournament due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
It added that WCL Season 3 continues with six teams: India Champions, South Africa Champions, Australia Champions, Bangladesh Champions, England Champions, and West Indies Champions.
With the withdrawal from the tournament, the much-anticipated clash between Pakistan and India, scheduled for October 10, has been cancelled.
Pakistan Champions owner Kamil Khan told the media that the PCB has upheld its decision not to issue the required NOCs to the players selected for the tournament.
Earlier, Pakistan Champions’ opening match against Bangladesh Champions on October 3 was postponed initially postponed for technical reasons. It was subsequently reported that the match was canceled due to the PCB’s refusal to grant NOCs.
While respecting the PCB’s authority and its decision, Kamil Khan expressed regret that players will not get the opportunity to represent Pakistan Champions in the global event, featuring legends of cricket.
“We are deeply grateful to our players and fans for their patience, understanding, and continued support,” Khan said.
Pakistan Champions were runners-up in the first two editions of WCL. India Champions secured the first title in 2024, while South Africa Champions won the 2025 edition.
