RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Rawalpindi Traffic Police on Monday issued a traffic plan for the upcoming Pakistan vs Sri Lanka T20I series and ODI tri-nation series involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England, set to be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play their first practice match tomorrow, October 6, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Later, the three-match T20I series will be played on October 9, 11, and 13.
The traffic police spokesperson said that more than 315 additional traffic police personnel will be deployed during the matches and team movements to keep traffic flowing on alternative routes.
The spokesperson said traffic would be diverted to alternative routes for the shortest possible period during the movement of the teams.
Traffic diversions
During team movements, traffic coming from Islamabad will be diverted towards Faizabad via the Expressway.
Traffic travelling from Rawalpindi towards Islamabad will be diverted in three stages.
“The first diversion will be made from 6th Road, the second from Rehmanabad and the third from Chandni Chowk, depending on the traffic situation.”
During matches, Stadium Road from 9th Avenue Chowk will be closed to traffic from both sides, according to the traffic advisory.
Traffic travelling from Islamabad towards Stadium Road and 9th Avenue will be diverted towards Faizabad and Rawalpindi via I.J.P. Road.
Similarly, traffic travelling from 9th Avenue towards Islamabad will be diverted through Faizabad during match hours.
Parking arrangements
Furthermore, Rawalpindi Traffic Police said parking facilities had been arranged at three locations for fans attending the matches.
Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam urged citizens to cooperate with traffic police personnel deployed along the routes and follow instructions issued during team movements and match hours.
He said the traffic police would make every effort to maintain smooth traffic flow throughout the city during the cricket fixtures.
“During the matches, full information will be given on the official pages and radio stations regarding the traffic situation in the city,” CTO said.
Citizens have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and use alternative routes during team movements and match hours.
