WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): In a fresh threat, the US has warned that commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz should not pay toll fees to Iran.
According to an international news agency, the US Treasury Department has warned of strict sanctions on shipping companies that pay toll fees to Iran for crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
Toll fees for passage through Strait of Hormuz
A Treasury Department’s statement said that it is aware of Iranian security agencies collecting toll fees for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement further said that sanctions will also be imposed on organizations that donate to entities like the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
It should be noted that the US Treasury Department on Friday blacklisted six Iranian citizens, 21 companies, and one vessel.
The individuals, companies, and commercial vessels on which US sanctions have been imposed are allegedly linked to Iran’s sensitive programs, especially energy and potentially nuclear or military activities.
