ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President of the United States, Donald Trump, has officially invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the ‘Board of Peace on Gaza‘, an international transitional body formed to deliberate on Trump’s Gaza peace plan, the Foreign Office said on Sunday.

In a statement, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tahir Andrabi, stated, “The Prime Minister of Pakistan has received an invitation from the President of the United States to join the Board of Peace on Gaza.”

Responding to media queries, the spokesperson said that Pakistan will remain engaged with international efforts for peace and security in Gaza, leading to a lasting solution to the Palestine issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

Under its proposed administrative and diplomatic measures to achieve peace in Gaza, President Trump sent invitations to the heads of various countries to join the proposed Peace Board and participate in joint efforts towards stability, access to aid, restoration of basic facilities, and a long-term political solution following the ceasefire in Gaza.

The US President’s invitation to PM Shehbaz is a successful diplomatic development and a sign that Pakistan’s international reputation, diplomatic weight, and trust have increased.

This success is the result of consistent state diplomacy, timely coordination, and effective strategy in line with national interests, which includes coordinated efforts of civil diplomacy as well as military diplomacy. Pakistan is seen as a responsible, mature, and solution-oriented party.

Pakistan’s participation or positive response is not based on the politics of any camp, but on practical support for alleviating the suffering of the atrocities inflicted on the Palestinian people, especially the innocent and defenseless civilians of Gaza, and for a just, lasting solution.

Pakistan has always supported the Palestinian right to self-determination, protection of civilians, an immediate ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian assistance, and reconstruction.
