WASHINGTON DC (Kashmir English): US President Donald Trump has again appreciated Chief of Army Staff,  Field Marshal Asim Munir, for preventing a nuclear conflict with India.

While addressing a press conference in The Hague after the Nato Summit, Donald Trump praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s  role in de-escalating tensions around the world.

Speaking at one point, he stated that the most vital among these conflicts on the international level was the threat of war in May between India and Pakistan.

And that wasn’t whether or not they might have nukes, like we are speaking of the Middle East, like we are speaking of with Israel and Iran. This is — they have nuclear weapons,” President Trump told reporters.

Discussing the war between Pakistan and India, he added: I ended that with a series of calls on trade.“. I told them, Look, if you are going to be fighting one another,’ It was getting really bad — you know how bad that final attack was.

It was really bad. If you are seriously going to go and fight one another, we are not going to have any trade.’ They said, No, no. No, you must have a trade agreement.

While speaking about his recent meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir, Trump also heaped praise on the Pakistan Army chief, stating: “Actually, I had the general — he was very impressive — the general from Pakistan was in my office last week.

You know Prime Minister Modi is a great friend of mine. He is a great gentleman. He is a great man. And I managed to make them reason.

I told them, We are not making any trade deal if you are going to be fighting. And if you are going to be fighting one another, we are not making any trade deal.”

And you know what? They said, No, I want to do a trade deal.’ And we prevented the nuclear war,” he concluded.

The comments by the US president emphasized the role COAS Asim Munir played in reducing tensions in the region.

It is remembered that Trump had previously referred to Munir as an exceptional human being and an inspiring personality.”

The US presidents declaration of playing a leading role in preventing nuclear war in South Asia is not admitted by India, as it has been claimed that New Delhi had acted on its own during the May conflict.

However, Pakistan has been praising Trump for calming down the tension in the region.
