MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The residents of Muzaffarabad have rejected the protest call of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) as roads, markets and shopping centers remain open across the capital.

All major and small business centres continued normal operations, while government and private offices also remained open despite the strike call.

Traffic on major roads remained normal, with transport terminals continuing their routine activities. Citizens also carried on with their daily routines without any significant disruption.

The situation remained peaceful and normal throughout the city, with the “total shutdown” call failing to attract the anticipated public response.

Similarly, the call for a “shutter-down” and “wheel-jam” strike issued by the banned Awami Action Committee was completely rejected in the Leepa Valley.

All markets across the Leepa Valley, large and small, including Leepa Bazaar, Nokot, Channiyan, Moji, Hachri, and Talawari remained fully open as usual, with business activities continuing uninterrupted. Public transport also operated according to schedule.

The business community, transport unions, and local residents dissociated themselves from the Action Committee’s strike call, stating that they are peace-loving people and cannot afford to halt their livelihoods.

Public opinion in the area holds that the people of Leepa Valley believe in resolving issues through peaceful dialogue and will not participate in any call that disrupts daily life.
