MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Anwarul Haq, has strongly denied rumors circulating in the media regarding the alleged resignation of PM Haq.
In a statement issued by the DGPR AJK on Monday, Anwarul Haq’s spokesperson called the rumors “completely baseless and fabricated.”
The spokesperson further said that the prime minister has not sent any resignation to the AJK President.
Earlier, several media reports alleged that the AJK premier had decided to resign from office amid the recent political upheaval in the region.
It was reported that Anwarul Haq decided to resign instead of facing the no-confidence motion after consultations with some of his fellow ministers and close relatives.
The spokesperson also rejected claims of an informal conversation with journalists being attributed to the Prime Minister, describing them as “fabricated”.
Earlier today, several media outlets reported that the AJK PM, in an informal talk with journalists at the Prime Minister’s House, said that if someone’s number game is complete, why don’t they bring a no-confidence motion against him?
Haq said that the no-confidence motion is the beauty of democracy, and he is ready to face it whenever it comes.
“They [referring to rivals] call my press conference themselves while sitting in Islamabad and postpone it themselves,” the PM added.
The statement came amid the political upheaval in the region as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) claimed to have secured a majority in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly and is set to move a no-confidence motion on Tuesday.
