ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has restricted gas supply to domestic consumers in Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to three daily time slots from Wednesday, November 4, amid declining LNG availability and increasing winter demand.

Under the revised schedule, households will receive gas during breakfast, lunch and dinner hours, with supplies available for a total of eight hours daily.

According to the new schedule, gas will be supplied from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The government has decided to prioritise domestic consumers to ensure that households receive gas for their essential needs during the winter season.

SNGPL Reduces Gas Supply to CNG Sector

Meanwhile, SNGPL has also reduced gas supplies to the compressed natural gas (CNG) sector from 50 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) to 35 mmcfd. The company is reportedly considering a complete suspension of gas supplies to the sector in the coming days.

The cement industry has already shifted to coal as an alternative fuel, while industrial consumers connected to the gas distribution network are also facing supply cuts.

Industries directly connected to the transmission network, including export-oriented and non-export sectors, are currently receiving approximately 200 mmcfd.

The power sector is being supplied around 140 mmcfd, while the fertiliser industry is receiving approximately 53 mmcfd.

Further adjustments to gas supplies may be introduced depending on available resources and demand throughout the winter season.
