TAROUBA (Kashmir English): Pakistan opener Shan Masood, who scored a brilliant century in the first Test against the West Indies, has been ruled out of the second Test match due to a finger injury.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Team management, Shan Masood suffered a finger injury during the first Test and is currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation under the supervision of the team’s medical panel.
The team management says that despite the injury, Shan Masood will remain with the national squad during the tour.
In contrast, his inclusion in the upcoming tour of England will be decided based on the progress of his rehabilitation.
Khurram Shahzad, Abbas penalised for aggressive celebration during West Indies Test
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday penalised Pakistan pacers Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Abbas for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test match against the West Indies.
In a statement, the cricket council said that Khurram was fined 15 per cent of his match fee and Abbas handed an official reprimand for breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
The article relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”
In addition to this, one demerit point each has been added to the disciplinary records of the players, both of whom did not have any previous offences in 24 months.
Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an “official reprimand ” and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.”
As per the ICC, Khurram was fined for celebrating aggressively close to dismissed batter Shai Hope during the 17th over of the West Indies’ second innings.
While, Mohammad Abbas was penalised for celebrating in an animated manner near dismissed batter Jomel Warrican, the final wicket of the innings.
“Both players admitted their offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for formal hearings,” the council said.
On-field umpires Alex Wharf and Richard Kettleborough and third umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal levelled the charges.
Pakistan lost the Test of their ICC World Test Championship series against West Indies by 90 runs on the fourth day of the Test at Brian Lara Cricket Academy Stadium in Trinidad on Tuesday.
