NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): In a recent development, Sardar Waheed, the director general of the Disaster Management Authority of Azad Kashmir, has announced that all persisting problems of the 1122 Unit Sharda will be fixed on a priority basis.
The DG stated during his visit to Sharda that rescue 1122 personnel and local people will be trained to deal with any emergency. Additionally, water boats have been provided for rescue on the river to use in emergencies.
Sharda is a remote area where most of the constructions are made of wood, so to make Sharda safe from fire, the Rescue 1122 Unit Sharda will be activated on technical grounds.
Parking for 1122 vehicles and a tehsil office for the staff are being established so that timely rescue operations can be carried out. The Azad Kashmir government is working on priority areas, especially the improvement of the Sharda unit and ensuring the provision of additional equipment.
Talking to the media, the DG Disaster Management, Sharda, stated that the setup of 1122 will be improved, the rescue officials will get new and improved equipment to speed up the rescue operations when needed. He was accompanied by District Officer DDMA Muhammad during the inspection of 1122 Unit Sharda.
During the visit, District Officer DDMA Muhammad Akhtar Ayub and 1122 Unit In-charge Khawaja Rafique accompanied the DG. Khawaja Rafique briefed the DG about the Sharda Center’s ongoing operations and requirements, to which the Director General assured prompt resolution of all issues.
