BHIMBER (Kashmir English): The winter has just started in Azad Kashmir, with people enjoying the season, several residents are worried due to the lack of resources and other facilities that become limited in this beautiful season.
Thick fog and mist take over the entire region, which makes it difficult for the residents to drive during this season. Due to reduced visibility during fog, many accidents occur every year, the main reason for which is the lack of front and rear lights of motorcycles and the absence of reflectors on tractor trolleys.
The public has demanded that the Deputy Commissioner Bhimber, Assistant Commissioner Barnala, and Traffic Police In-charge Bhimber and Barnala take effective measures before the fog and mist season.
Strict action should be taken against the owners of motorcycles whose back lights or front lights are damaged or missing, heavy fines should be imposed, and the vehicles should be stopped at police stations so that precious human lives can be saved.
Moreover, public representatives have said that bright reflector strips should be installed on tractor trolleys, rickshaws, and other vehicles so that the rate of accidents at night and during fog can be reduced.
Public circles further say that if timely steps are not taken, there is a risk of an increase in accidents during winter. The administration is expected to bring about a clear reduction in the rate of accidents under an effective strategy this year.
On the other hand, social organizations have appealed to the administration and traffic police to also launch a public awareness campaign so that citizens take precautionary measures during the fog season, and travel on the roads can be made safe.
