KOTLI (Kashmir English): The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, took immediate notice of social media reports regarding Rehman and Gulpur Bridges in Kotli district, terming them unsafe for travel.

Following his instructions, Minister for Communications and Public Works Azhar Sadiq directed SE Highways and XEN Highways Kotli to inspect the bridges and submit a report.

The inspection report revealed that the Gulpur Bridge is safe for light traffic but not suitable for heavy traffic. As a precautionary measure, the bridge has been closed to heavy traffic, and an alternative route via the Sahansa-Sarsawa road has been designated for heavy vehicles.

The report also recommended including a project in the upcoming budget for the construction of a new bridge to replace the Gulpur Bridge.

Contrary to initial concerns, the inspection report declared the Rehman Bridge safe for all types of traffic, providing relief to commuters and travelers.
