RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): The armed miscreants of the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) injured a police constable and a civilian in Rawalakot and abducted an Additional District Judge on the Rawalakot-Palandri Road, district police said on Wednesday.
According to the Rawalakot police spokesperson, armed elements opened heavy fire on the civilian population in Rawalakot today between 12:00 pm and 5 pm.
The injured police constable, identified as Makhdoom Ishaq, a member of the Rawalakot District Police, and a civilian were receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), the statement said.
The armed men also targeted various sections of the government hospital, causing significant damage, and opened fire on an ambulance.
In a separate incident, the JAAC members abducted an Additional District Judge along with his vehicle on the Rawalakot-Palandri road. Police said efforts were underway to recover the judge.
The Rawalakot police said they would continue taking action against the miscreants of JAAC involved in unlawful activities, in accordance with the law.
