ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Late-night rain in various parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi made the weather pleasant and significantly reduced the intensity of the heat.

A significant drop in temperature was recorded after the sudden rain, while the atmosphere became cool and pleasant.

The rain started late at night and continued intermittently in various areas of the federal capital. Roads became wet due to rain in different sectors of Islamabad and low-lying areas of Rawalpindi, while the increased humidity in the air made the weather feel even more pleasant.

NDMA forecast

On the other hand, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for thunderstorms and rain in various parts of the country during the next 24 hours, with hailstorms expected at some places.

According to the department, the current weather system is likely to intensify under the influence of westerly winds, which may lead to unstable weather in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

Rain with strong winds and hailstorms in some places has been predicted for several districts of Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sahiwal, among other areas.

Similarly, rain and hailstorms are also expected in various districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa such as Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Intermittent rain is also expected to continue in areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Neelum Valley, Bagh, and Rawalakot.

The NDMA has also warned that the risk of glacial lake outbursts and flash floods may increase in some areas in the coming days.
