LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government has announced a local holiday for tomorrow in connection with the Urs of Data Sahib. The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) issued a notification about the holiday.
According to the notification, district offices and those functioning under the authority of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) will remain closed on the local holiday. However, the local holiday will not be applicable for the Punjab Civil Secretariat, autonomous institutions, and regional offices.
Authorities have announced a local holiday to make necessary arrangements for the Urs of Data Sahib. In the meantime, all departments have been directed to follow the directions issued by the government on the holiday.
Earlier, the Sindh government had announced a public holiday on July 29 (Wednesday) on account of the annual Urs of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
Holiday across the province
According to a notification issued by the provincial government, it declared July 29 as a public holiday across the province for all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under its administrative control, except for essential services.
The notification was shared by the Sindh Information Department on the social mediaplatform X.
The three-day annual urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is held every year from Safar 14 at his final resting place in Bhit Shah.
