ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Nehal Hashmi, as Sindh governor, who will now replace MQM-P’s Kamran Khan Tessori to assume office.

Earlier, the Prime Minister Shehbaz had forwarded a summary of Nehal Hashmi’s appointment as Sindh governor to President Asif Ali Zardari for the final approval, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.

In a press release, the President’s Office’s media wing stated, “President Zardari has approved the appointment of Mr. Nihal Hashmi as Governor Sindh, acting on the advice of PM under Articles 48 & 101 of Pakistan’s Constitution.”

It said that the President has congratulated and expressed his best wishes to Nehal Hashmi on his appointment as Governor of Sindh.

“The President has also signed the Commission of Appointment for this appointment, and that he will take an oath before the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court,” the media wing said.

Earlier today, the premier met Hashmi in Islamabad and congratulated him on his proposed appointment as the governor.

The appointment will replace Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Kamran Tesori, who has been serving as the Governor of Sindh since October 10, 2022.
