MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has announced the official results of 21 out of 24 constituencies, while 9 reserved seats have also been allotted.
In a notification issued by the Election Commission, the PPP has suffered a major setback.
Independent candidate Imam Malik from GBA 16 Diamer 2, who had joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party on Thursday, has been declared winner. Previously, Attaullah, the PPP candidate, was declared successful on this very seat.
On Thursday also, PTI-backed member Legislative Assembly Naik Karim had joined the PPP, but the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party snatched one seat from the PPP.
On the other hand, the final result for Fida Muhammad Nashad, who was successful from GBA 9 Skardu on a PPP ticket, has been withheld due to a petition filed against him in the Supreme Appellate Court.
The final result for Muhammad Naseem, a PPP member from GBA 17, have also been withheld due to a court decision.
The final results for Muhammad Dilpazeer, who joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party from GBA 15 Diamer 1, has also been withheld based on the Supreme Appellate Court’s decision.
According to a notification issued by the Election Commission, out of general seats, PPP won 9, PML-N 6, IPP 4, MWM 1, and independent candidates 1 seat.
On the other hand, six Women, three Technocrat seats have been allotted among the PPP, PML-N, and IPP.
Reserved seats for women in GB Assembly
According to the Election Commission, out of 6 reserved seats for women, 3 went to PPP, 2 to PML-N, and one to IPP.
Out of 3 Technocrat seats, PPP, PML-N, and IPP each were allotted one seat.
Kulsoom Jahangir, former Deputy Speaker Sadia Danish, and Sobia Muqaddam of PPP have been declared successful on reserved seats, while Sajida Begum and Jennifer Bahadur of PML-N have been declared successful.
Dilshad Bano of Istehkam-e-Pakistan has also been elected as a member of the GB assembly.
The technocrat seats have been given to Muhammad Sharif (PPP), Sahib Khan (PML-N), and Muhammad Ali (Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party).
