PMD forecasts hot, dry conditions with rain in several regions

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Hot and dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of Pakistan, while rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are likely in upper regions, the Pothohar region, Kashmir and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Islamabad and its surrounding areas are expected to remain partly cloudy, with a possibility of rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms during the night.

In most areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the sky will remain partly cloudy, with a likelihood of rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms at isolated places in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, and Hangu during the evening and night.

Dry weather and partly cloudy skies are expected in most parts of Punjab; however, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms may occur at isolated places in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Okara, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and surrounding areas during the night.

Dry weather is expected in most districts of Sindh, with hot conditions during the day; however, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy in Karachi and its surrounding areas.

The weather will remain dry and hot during the day in most districts of Balochistan; however, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Zhob, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Musa Khel, and surrounding areas.

Apart from partly cloudy skies, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected at a few places in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Yesterday, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms occurred in most parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as at a few locations in Kashmir and Barkhan. The highest rainfall, 43 mm, was recorded in Mandi Bahauddin.

Details for other areas are as follows: In Punjab, rainfall was recorded as 43 mm in Mandi Bahauddin, 34 mm in Bhakkar, 26 mm in Chakwal, 19 mm in Gujrat and Toba Tek Singh, 15 mm in Sahiwal, and 14 mm (Airport) and 10 mm (City) in Sialkot.
