PM Shehbaz announces Daanish University campus for Muzaffarabad

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced the establishment of the technology (Tech) campus of Daanish University in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

He made the announcement while chairing a review meeting on the progress of Daanish Schools and Daanish University across the country, the media wing of the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The prime minister termed these institutions as among the country’s most important national assets.

“Construction of Daanish Schools across the country and the Daanish University in Islamabad is the best investment for the bright future of the nation,” he said.

During the meeting, the premier issued instructions to complete the construction of Daanish Schools in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as soon as possible.

The design of Daanish Schools should be in harmony with the regional culture, the Prime Minister said, instructing that the recruitment of teaching and other staff in Daanish Schools and the University should be done purely on merit.

He also commended the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training for the pace of construction work on Daanish schools.

During the meeting, officials briefed the prime minister on the progress of 27 Daanish schools under construction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, and Islamabad, as well as the construction of Daanish University in the federal capital.

The prime minister was briefed that the construction of Daanish School Kurri, Islamabad, has been completed, and teaching has already started in the school.

While the construction of Daanish Schools in Bagh, Bhimber, Sultanabad, Ghanche, and Astore was in the final stages, with classes expected to commence in April 2027.

The officials also informed the meeting that the recruitment process for Daanish University’s teaching faculty has begun.

The university is scheduled to start academic operations in 2027 and will admit students from across Pakistan on merit, with particular emphasis on providing opportunities to talented youth from the backward areas.

Federal Ministers Azam Nazir Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Attaullah Tarar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and senior officers of the relevant institutions were present in the meeting.
