MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stated that the environment established for the first time in Azad Kashmir is a cause of concern for all of us, and this situation arose due to the failure of the previous governments to fulfill their duty.
In his address during the PML-N Azad Kashmir Parliamentary Party meeting in Murree, Nawaz Sharif reiterated his resolve that just as the situation in Punjab has changed, Azad Kashmir will also change in the same way.
He said that now there is absolutely no scope for hurting the trust of the people in a contractual or wrong way. If we do not deliver by doing developmental work in Azad Kashmir, people will be angry with us.
He said that the governments of Azad Kashmir established in the past failed to perform according to the aspirations of the people, while the welfare and well-being of the citizens of Azad Kashmir is our priority.
Public welfare and development projects
Nawaz Sharif said that the citizens of Azad Kashmir are looking towards Punjab for development; therefore, maximum funds should be provided to the state.
He assured that he will make every effort to fulfill the promises that have been announced and a PML-N government will be established in Azad Kashmir. He stressed that modern roads and quality hospitals should be built in Azad Kashmir, the citizens there should be provided with reasonable employment opportunities, and tourism should be given full promotion.
He said that after seeing the roads and hospitals of Punjab, the people of Azad Kashmir also feel happy that such facilities are available in their country. He said that laptops and educational scholarships will be given to the students of Azad Kashmir, while all the farmers there should be provided with the Kisan Card facility.
Election results and political environment
The PML-N President congratulated all those who won the elections in Azad Kashmir and congratulated those who did not win the elections, saying that they had fought the campaign of political opponents. He expressed regret that some complaints had reached him; since the PPP government was in power in the state and the PPP was the Prime Minister, there was no expectation that he would get any opportunity to complain.
He clarified that the PML-N has always treated its opponents well and well, so political opposition should never turn into personal enmity. He said that the political and social environment of Azad Kashmir has always been excellent, so it is not at all good for such germs to enter it.
