MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Political expert and activist Advocate Ghulamullah Awan on Friday strongly criticised the Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, for his alleged incompetence and accused him of favoritism in merit-based system.

While speaking to Kashmir Digital in a podcast, Advocate Awan took a jibe at the premier and said that he [AJK PM] is a puppet, adding that he pretends every day to be [dervish] and that he does everything on merit.

“Every government position has been handed over to his relatives,” he slammed the prime minister for “rampant corruption” while questioning, “Is this the end of corruption and the restoration of merit?”

Awan’s statement came after Chaudhry Anwarul-Haq, while talking to the media, said that there was no corruption in the government departments.

While responding to a question, Ghulamullah Awan said that this state was not built for governance, but to practice the Hereditary system, “where son comes after father and the entire family enjoys power.”

“This state was established as a base camp for the freedom of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, but the elite mafia [politicians and bureaucrats] in Azad Kashmir have undermined the roots of the true cause and ruined the state system,” he said in a fierce interview.

“They don’t use their vehicles for household work but government fuel and vehicles,” he claimed, adding that government vehicles, which they take to Islamabad, get stolen, and they guarantee to protect the public rights?

Moreover, he said, “the politicians act sympathizers during the elections and assure people to raise their voice on the assembly floor for public rights. When they reach the assembly, they make laws for their interests, far from public welfare.”

He further slammed the leaders for taking lifetime privileges from the tax money of people. “Do we elect these government officials so that they would get privileges,” he questioned, adding that they are ready to go to any extent for their privileges and luxuries.

Claims to serve people before the election, but they put the burden on the people after the election, and get privileges for themselves. This is the real face of our politicians,” advocate Ghulam maintained.
