MUZZAFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Prime Minister (PM) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwar-ul -Haq, inaugurated the project of Operation Division Muzaffarabad 2 for the Department of Electricity.
Speaker Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Senior Minister Colonel (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, government ministers and others accompanied the PM AJK.
Prime Minister took a detailed briefing regarding the project from Chief Electrical Engineer Muzaffarabad Ziad Akbar. The PM while addressing the ceremony said that rationalization has begun in the Electricity Department.
After the rates of Rs. 3 per unit of electricity, the first condition should have been that 99 percent of the people should ensure payment of electricity bills.
he said the system is running despite subsidies from every department, adding that the highest investment in hydel power projects has been made in the Jhelum Valley. Today, this district is going to become self-sufficient in electricity generation.
if the people ensure to pay 100 percent of the bill on Rs 3 per unit of electricity, then no one will be able to snatch this facility of cheap electricity from them, he said, while adding, that if electricity is stolen, then it becomes difficult for the departments to stop load shedding.
The Prime Minister AJK, said that our aim is to strengthen the Electricity Department on priority basis, adding that once the recruitment process is completed, the hands will also be laid on the electricity thieves.
“I tell the officers of the Electricity Department that your performance is excellent, and you have worked even in adverse conditions.
The PM further said “I congratulate the Electricity Department for the uninterrupted supply of electricity despite the difficulties. The Electricity Department has recovered 16.5 billion despite significant difficulties”.
In Muzaffarabad, 640 million is spent on electricity supply, which demonstrate that subsidies are being provided in every department and the system is also functioning.
