Pakistan Railways has decided to restore its previous train timetable from November 10, 2026, suspending the revised schedule introduced on October 15 following complaints about delays in train arrivals and departures.

According to railway officials, a notification has been issued to reinstate the old timetable after passengers reported disruptions under the revised schedule.

Officials said the new timetable was temporarily suspended because trains were facing delays due to engineering restrictions and signalling problems.

The restoration is aimed at addressing scheduling issues and improving train operations across the country.

Private Train Operators Ordered to Provide Fare Discounts

In a separate development, Pakistan Railways has directed private operators of outsourced trains to ensure that all eligible passengers receive travel concessions under departmental rules and relevant agreements.

Under the latest notification, private operators must provide applicable fare discounts to:

  • Journalists

  • Senior citizens

  • Persons with disabilities

  • Pakistan Railways employees holding valid travel passes

  • Employees entitled to Privilege Ticket Orders (PTOs)

  • Other eligible passengers entitled to special travel benefits.

The department has instructed private operators to honour all applicable concessions and facilities in accordance with Pakistan Railways regulations and their contractual agreements.

Complaints Over Denial of Travel Concessions

Railway officials said private operators had previously received several instructions regarding passenger concessions. However, complaints continued that journalists, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and railway employees were being denied their entitled travel benefits.

The latest directives aim to ensure that private train operators comply with departmental regulations and provide eligible passengers with the discounts and facilities they are entitled to receive.

The move is expected to improve passenger convenience and strengthen enforcement of travel concession rules across outsourced train services.
