SOUTH WAZIRISTAN (Kashmir English): Security forces have given a strong response to unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces at Pakistan Army border posts in the Angor Adda area of South Waziristan, security sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, Pakistani border posts were targeted with sniper fire and small and heavy weapons from Afghan positions across the border.

Sources further said that the Afghan Taliban regime has targeted the civilian market in Angoor Adda, due to which civilian casualties are feared.

In response, Pakistani forces targeted several Afghan Taliban border posts, mortar positions and defensive positions using artillery and other weapons, the sources said.

They added the response forced Afghan Taliban personnel to abandon their positions and flee, while several casualties were reported on the Afghan Taliban side.

According to security sources, troops are alert on the border and ready to respond to any further aggression.
