ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has outlined how married citizens can update their marital status in official records online through the Pak ID mobile app or visiting in-person at a registration centre.
According to the authority, applicants must first obtain a computerized marriage certificate from the relevant Union Council, Cantonment Board or Municipal Committee.
The certificate contains a Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) number, which is required to proceed further.
According to NADRA, the Civil Registration Management System records major life events, including births, marriages, divorces and deaths, through authorised local government bodies across the country.
Linking these records with NADRA’s database helps ensure that citizens’ identity information reflects their registered civil status.
Updating marital status via NADRA’s Pak ID app
The officials said citizens can apply online using authority’s Pak ID mobile application, which supports modifications to Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and updates to non-printable information.
Applicants should download the official Pak ID app and create an account or sign in.
Then they should select the relevant CNIC modification or non-printable information update service.
Enter the required details and upload the supporting documents requested by the app.
Pay any applicable fees online and submit the application.
Track the application through the platform.
NADRA advises applicants to follow the instructions provided in the application. Additional verification may be required, depending on individual circumstances.
NADRA registration centres
Those who prefer to apply in-person can visit their nearest NADRA Registration Centre along with computerized marriage certificate and other required identity documents.
Applicants should request an update to their marital status and complete any identity or biometric verification required by NADRA.
They should also ensure that their marriage details match the information recorded by the relevant local government authority.
