NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): On the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, Muslims across the country continued to perform the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) by offering Eid sacrifices.

In Azad Kashmir, the Million Smile Foundation organised the Eid sacrifice of over 150 large animals on Eid-ul-Azha in Neelum Valley to support poor and LoC-affected families.

The distribution of meat was carried out across 56 villages in 15 union councils, benefiting more than 15,000 people, including those affected by the Line of Control, the poor, widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and underprivileged families.

The Eid sacrifices were done under the supervision of the foundation’s officials, with help from local focal persons and volunteers.

Hundreds of cows and bulls were sacrificed in a well-organised manner near the zero line to honour the tradition of Eid-ul-Azha.

Committees were already formed at the local level, which began the sacrifice process immediately after Eid prayers and ensured that the meat was delivered to deserving families in an orderly way.

Notable individuals involved in the effort included A.D. Syed Mubashir Gilani, Sardar Aurangzeb, Principal of Army Public School Sajid uz Zaman, Million Smile focal person Mushtaq Butt and Kamran Sillharia from CRP Bird Foundation.

Additionally, Hameedullah, teacher Muhammad Sharif Sillharia, Abdul Rasheed Dar, Chairman Akhtar Dar, community leaders Asif Khan and Maulana Nazir, among others. Every union council saw generous participation in this noble cause.

Citizens praised the efforts of Million Smile Foundation’s CEO Zeeshan Haider and Managing Director Raja Dawood.

Donors who provided sacrificial animals through the foundation were also thanked warmly, and many prayers were offered for them.

Compared to the first day, there was a noticeable drop in the number of animal sacrifices.

Sanitation workers remained active in areas, clearing animal remains from roads and streets after Eid sacrifice, while law enforcement officials were also engaged in maintaining public safety.

People are busy in the kitchen preparing a variety of delicious dishes, including beef karahi, mutton karahi, tikka boti, seekh kebabs, biryani, and other festive meals. Many people headed to recreational spots for enjoyment.

Tourist areas also witnessed increased footfall as families took advantage of the Eid holidays.

Meanwhile, in various areas, sanitation staff continued their efforts to keep streets and neighbourhoods clean from the remains of sacrificial animals.
