Oil prices drop massively after US-Iran ceasefire

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The international community now experiences positive results from Pakistan’s diplomatic work, which helps to reduce international conflicts and maintain crucial economic markets.

The United States and Iran established a ceasefire agreement through Pakistan’s diplomatic work, which resulted in a 19 percent decrease in global oil prices. The price of Brent crude oil has fallen to approximately $90 per barrel.

The international stock markets have shown positive results because all major indices have experienced upward movements. The global business community feels relieved because the risks of extended conflict have decreased, which had created worries about possible economic disturbances.

Iran accepted Pakistan’s request for a two-week ceasefire, according to reports that received approval from the new Supreme Leader of the country. Iranian media reported that former US President Donald Trump experienced political damage because of his aggressive comments toward Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Iran would stop its attacks if other countries ceased their military strikes against the nation. He said that his team would work with the Iranian military to establish safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks.

US-Iran Ceasefire

Earlier, Iran had agreed to a two-week ceasefire, also appreciating Pakistan’s civil and military leadership for achieving the objective.

This breakthrough followed President Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire for two weeks.

US President Donald Trump had threatened a massive assault on Iranian civilian infrastructure—promising to send the country “back to the Stone Ages”—if the Strait of Hormuz remained closed.

Pakistan made Iran agree to a ceasefire

The New York Times reported that the deal was approved by Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, following last-minute diplomatic pressure from China and Pakistan.

The truce is contingent on Iran’s commitment to the “COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING” of the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, a message from the foreign minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, clarified Iran’s position on peace talks, saying if attacks against Iran are halted, their “Powerful Armed Forces will cease their defensive operations.”

In a statement on X on behalf of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, soon after the announcement of President Trump agreeing to a two-week ceasefire, Araghchi expressed gratitude and appreciation for PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their tireless efforts to end the war in the region.

“In response to the brotherly request of PM Sharif in his tweet, and considering the request by the U.S. for negotiations based on its 15-point proposal, as well as the announcement by POTUS about acceptance of the general framework of Iran’s 10-point proposal as a basis for negotiations, I hereby declare on behalf of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council:

If attacks against Iran are halted, our Powerful Armed Forces will cease their defensive operations.

For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran’s Armed Forces and with due consideration of technical limitations,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in the post.
