ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) spokesperson on Tuesday denied the news circulating on social media regarding the additional increase in the prices of petroleum products.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the OGRA spokesperson clarified that no summary of the increase in the price of petrol by Rs 73.40 and diesel by Rs 84.95 was sent to the Prime Minister’s Office by OGRA.
The OGRA spokesperson said that this claim is completely baseless and has no relation to reality. The spokesperson clarified that the aforementioned news spread on social media is fabricated and false, and has no relation to reality.
He said that the public should not listen to such unverified information.
Four Oil Cargo Ships arrive
Immediately after the increase in the prices of petroleum products, 4 ships loaded with petrol arrived at Port Qasim. According to port officials, ships loaded with about 250 million liters of petrol have arrived at Port Qasim, and the transfer of 37,000 tons of petrol has been completed from one ship.
Officials say that the process of transferring 50,000 tons of petrol from another ship is underway, while another ship carrying 55,000 tons of petrol will anchor at Port Qasim on March 12.
Officials said that in addition to this, another ship will arrive on March 13, which will unload about 34,000 tons of petrol.
Petrol prices increased
Earlier on Friday, the federal government increased the diesel and petrol prices by Rs55 per litre starting tonight, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said, citing the surge in global prices due to the ongoing Iran-Israel and US military conflict.
Addressing the press conference along with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the petroleum minister said that the new petrol price has been fixed at Rs321.17 per litre, effective from March 7, 2026.
Similarly, diesel price, with an increase of Rs55 per litre, would now be available for Rs 335.86 per litre from 275.7.
