NHA increases toll tax on national highways, major motorways

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Highway Authority (NHA) on Friday announced a significant increase in toll tax on major motorways and national highways, including GT Road, across the country.

According to the notification, the new rates will apply to all types of vehicles, effective from today.

“National Highway Authority notified the Revised Toll Rates on National Highways & Motorways Network under Section 10 (2) vii of NHA Act-1991 as amended in 2024,” the notification said.

According to the notification, the new rates have been implemented on various important motorways and highways, including M-1, M-3, M-4, M-5, M-14, E-35 (Hazara Expressway), National Highways, Kohat Tunnel, and E-75 (Murree Expressway).

The increase in toll rates will apply to all types of vehicles, including cars, wagons, buses, two and three-axle trucks, and articulated trucks.

What is the new toll tax on National Highways?

According to the notification, the toll tax on national highways, including GT Road, has been fixed at Rs 100 for cars, Rs 200 for wagons, Rs 300 for buses, Rs 400 for two and three-axle trucks, and Rs 700 for articulated trucks.

Similarly, for the Kohat Tunnel (N-55), Rs 250 toll tax has been set for cars, Rs 650 for wagons, Rs 750 for buses, Rs 750 for two and three-axle trucks, and Rs 1150 for articulated trucks.

The toll taxes for the Murree Expressway (E-75) have also been raised, with Rs 300 for cars, Rs 300 for wagons, Rs 450 for buses, Rs 500 for two and three-axle trucks, and Rs 1000 for articulated trucks.

New toll tax on Motorways

The toll tax for cars on Lahore to Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M-3) is fixed at Rs 1,000, Rs 1,500 for wagons up to 12 seaters, Rs 2,200 for coasters/minibuses, and Rs 3,150 for buses, Rs 4,050 for two and three-axle trucks, and Rs 5,000 for articulated trucks.

Millions of citizens across the country use motorways and national highways daily, so the new rates are likely to impact private vehicle owners as well as transport companies and the freight sector.
