NEW DELHI (Kashmir English): A statement by Afghanistan’s Agriculture Minister Mawlawi Attaullah Omari during a visit to India has gone viral on social media, drawing criticism from many Afghan users.

In the widely shared video, Omari thanked Indian authorities for their hospitality and said he did not feel like a stranger in India.

He further remarked that Afghan and Indian people share a bond, calling their ”DNA is one” and that he felt as though he was among “his own people.”

The comments quickly gained traction online, prompting mixed reactions.

While some social media users viewed the remarks as a gesture of goodwill toward the host country, many Afghan users criticized the statement as inappropriate.

Several critics accused the minister of making an unnecessarily controversial remark to please the Indian government, with some calling on him to publicly clarify or apologize for his comments.
