NEELUM (Kashmir English): The mutilated bodies of three young men, including two brothers, who had gone missing were recovered from Jagran Valley in Neelum, Azad Kashmir, on Sunday, rescue officials said.
Following the postmortem, the bodies were handed over to the families for burial today.
The deceased were identified as Yasir Baloch, Nasir Baloch, residents of Chalai, and Faisal Awan, a resident of Jagran.
Police said that according to the families of the deceased, the victims had gone to Baboon Valley for a picnic on June 29. The deceased had lost contact with their family members since July 5.
Their relatives subsequently launched a search and filed a report at City Police Station Athmuqam.
As per the officials, women herding cattle saw the bodies in the forest and informed the relevant authorities, after which the bodies were recovered and shifted to District Headquarters Hospital in Athmuqam.
According to preliminary information, the bodies were severely mutilated, with the heads of Nasir and Yasir cut off, while the legs of Faisal’s body were missing.
Police said the exact cause of death would be determined following forensic examination and other investigations.
Inspector Syed Wajahat Kazmi of City Police Station Athmuqam said an investigation had been initiated under Section 174 following a report filed by the heirs.
