RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who is also the Chief of Defence Forces, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi of Pakistan left for Iran, where they met with the country’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
The talks between the two sides revolved around various issues of bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual concern. They discussed multiple aspects with the Iranian interior minister regarding the peace process in the region.
As per ISPR, the visit of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to Iran was part of Pakistan’s efforts for promoting peace and stability in the region through furthering the process of peace in the Middle East.
The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baqai, has confirmed the visit of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to Iran and remarked that crucial meetings will take place during this visit.
As per the Iranian local news agency IRNA, Baqai stated that the purpose of this visit is to strengthen bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan, and he also stated that this visit is a follow-up to Pakistan’s efforts in bringing peace and security in the region.
According to the spokesman, important subjects will be discussed during the visit of the field marshal, including topics of common interest and the promotion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
It is worth mentioning that during the time of high tension between Iran and the US, Pakistan maintained close ties with both parties and continued with its diplomatic moves to encourage peace in the region.
The talks between the US and Iran ended up failing due to disagreement on various issues; however, both countries have subsequently begun targeting each other with their attacks. And, in the current situation, Pakistan continues with its activities aimed at easing the situation in the region and resolving the conflict peacefully.
